Pattaya Thailand - Real Estate boom?

by Ron Keeley

Pattaya in Thailand, whilst is a favoured tourist atrraction to many a Thai soulmate seeking Westerner, it is also becoming a booming real estate network.
If you ask any real estate agent here in Pattaya if this is just the current fad, and if that property bubble is about to burst, they will more than likely laugh in your face and say "This is just the beginning!".

Pattaya Beach and Jomtien Beach are still currently the resorts that many people fly to each and every year and who can blame them - stunning food and restaurants, beautiful Thai women at every turn and hospitality like no other place in the world.

However, if you travel out and about those resorts, you will see building work at every turn as oppose to those beautiful Thai women I mentioned earlier. So something is certainly getting people excited!

There are shophouses, full blown communities and villas being built and with the land still available here in Pattaya, it shows no signs of slowing down.

So what is it about Pattaya that is creating this almost 'goldrush' of housing projects? Well that could be a number of things. There has been a lot of talk and meetings with hotels of proposed Casinos being built in the area and that project looks certain to go ahead at some stage, who knows when is anybody's guess. Rumours of Theme Parks have been mentioned also but these reasons are still to happen and let's face it, there may be a possibility that none of that happens.

My view is, which ever way you look at it, Pattaya will continue to be a popular tourist and expat attraction for many years to come and wave upon wave of tropical sun seeking foreigners (or farangs if you're Thai) will discover this country and learn to love this culture. Holiday homes, retirement homes and playboy homes will be sought after and there will be the supply for the demand.

If you're thinking of buying or owning any sort of property in Thailand, be sure that you understand the laws and regulations as I'm sure they will be very different to that of your own country.

Pattaya Beach [Thailand] Dawn Freak Show - Pattaya Beach at sunrise is a great place for 'people watching'

by Tony Wells

I call it the Pattaya Beach 'Dawn Freak Show!'

If you've even been to Thailand, specifically Pattaya Beach, you will already know there's an unlimited variety of sights and sounds to experience there. If you enjoy just relaxing and doing some serious 'people watching', then without a doubt, this is the place for you! Let me tell you now, if you can imagine it, you can find it here.

Once I was on a submarine cable laying job in Thailand. Our company was laying a sub sea [that's underwater.. for you folks that really need the basics] fiber optics cable that was to link up most of the Southeast Asian countries with the USA and Europe. Well, it was a hell of a job cause they had me put up in a fairly nice hotel right there on the main strip in Pattaya Beach. Hell of a job and hell of an assignment. LOL. Heck.. my employer didn't know it at the time but even if they would have cut my pay to HALF of what my current day rate was - I wouldn't have left that job for anything.

If any of you readers out there that have had the pleasure to visit Pattaya beach you will fully understand where I'm coming from here. For those of you who have never been to Pattaya beach.. well.. all I can say is there's no shortage of beautiful almond eyed ladies and bars there! I don't even think it's possible to count all the bars there.. every type imaginable that also comes with every type of lady imaginable also.

It's just to hard for me to explain what exactly what Pattaya beach is all about but one thing is for sure - a single male can have a hell-of-a-good time there! There's no denying that at all. If you're an able bodied male.. and you can't get a girl at Pattaya beach.. god have mercy on your soul. That's about all I can say for your sorry ass. LOL

Back to my main topic now.. so.. on this sub sea cable laying job, sometimes I had to catch a boat out to the barge [which was anchored about a few miles offshore there in Pattaya bay]. On those mornings I would have to go down to the little bar on the main strip and wait for the boat to come fetch me. This bar is called the Marine Bar and it's located right on the main strip. Yup.. the Marine Bar was named after the good-ole US Marines! cause during the Vietnam war era days they used to all go to Pattaya beach for some good ole R&R [Rest & Recreation].

I would arrive at the Marine Bar about 5:30 am and wait for my pick-up boat while watching the sun rise. I've always had a favorite pass time of people watching.. and let me tell you.. I had no ideal that people watching at sunrise on Pattaya Beach could bring an entire new meaning to the word! This brought me to an entirely different level! Incredible… I noticed several different types of people there and I classified them into several different crazy groups. Such as…

The All-Nighter's (aka: Vampire Guys)

These guys are very easy to spot cause they usually are the most loud and noticeable of the groups. These guys are the one's who have been up partying all night long and are still going strong at it… maybe it's because of the drugs they took earlier that night.. who knows how they can do it. Oh.. they're good at partying and they do it every night to the maximum. They sleep only around 10 or 11am and then wake up again around 6 or 7pm to do it all over again!

Most of these guys are here in Pattaya on a short vacation and they're here for one reason and one reason only - to PARTY.. and I mean, PARTY HARD! They've been working all year for this short 2 week vacation and they fully intend on packing in at least a years worth of missed partying during their stay here. They only go back to their hotel and pass out when their body is begging for mercy and to get their batteries recharged for a few hours. As soon as they wake up, it's, "What the f**k are we doing sleeping.. LET'S GO PARTY AGAIN!!"

Falang [Foreigner] Drunkards

These are the falang or farang.. [that's 'foreigner' in Thai language] guys who had obviously been out drinking [to much!] and partying all night and didn't even yet realize it's already the next day approaching. They are already so drunk but still insisting to the bar waitress to, 'give me another round'. By now they are so totally wasted and clueless that nothing really mattered to them anymore. The nothing that really mattered anymore includes [but is not limited to] the following; a) The Very Sexy Girl that they had earlier bar fined who was already so tired and pissed-off with this drunkard that all she wanted to do now was to go back to her bar and sleep. Sitting there watching.. I felt sorry for these girls.. what a waste! b) The bar waitress was even fed-up with these kinds of guys already. The next drink she wanted to give this drunkard should have a mickey in it so the guy would just pass out on the bar and be done with it. She'd be doing him a favor.. believe me. c) They're so wasted that they're about to pass-out on the bar.. at which time any Thai thief or rejected Katoey will be able to casually walk over and empty their wallets and pockets for them [well.. at least then they wouldn't have anymore money to pay for anymore drinks so this would force them to go back to their hotel to either sleep it off or.. get more money and come back!].

Last Call For Alcohol Girls

These are the girls that nobody wanted… not even the drunkard above. These girls were totally ignored by so very many horny foreigners and they haven't a clue why. Perhaps the fact that they're ugly as sin may have had something to do with their rejection. I don't know.. just thinking out loud. But hey, even ugly girls have feelings and they deserve to be loved also. Anybody ever heard the saying, "I've never gone to bed with an ugly woman.. but I've woken up with a few!?" LOL

Ok, so.. these not so pretty girls.. they're still hopeful so still staying out there on the streets.. hoping and praying that some drunk or sucker or reject guy will grab them and bring them back to their hotel rooms and make wild passionate love to them.

Pissed-Off & Rejected Katoeys

Now here's a group you won't find anyplace else in the world! Only in Thailand do they have the most beautiful [and sometimes.. not so beautiful] Katoeys! For those of you who don't know what a Katoey is, let me enlighten you. A Katoey is a Ladyboy, HeShe, SheMale, Tranvestite.. you get my drift now.

Believe it or not.. they're in big demand in Thailand. Many foreigners [usually those old, bald, fat foreigner guys] love to play in the sack with Katoeys! That's a known fact [so please don't take offense if you're reading this and you happen to fit the Katoey liking description] LOL. Nothing personal guys. Hey, just to be fair.. I'm sure there's also some young, not-bald, slim foreigner guys who also like to roll in the sack with Katoeys [there.. you happy now?].

Now.. Katoey's have feelings too.. and if you're a totally rejected Katoey you're probably a bit pissed-off come morning time. By this time of morning you can see rejection written all over their faces.. and they're none to happy about it either so they're still out looking.. praying.. hoping.. that they may still have a chance to find a horny little fat and bald foreigner guy to take them back to their hotel room and give them a good … um…. rear-end screwing… with some payment afterwards.. Of Course! How else are they going to make a living?? LOL

So, folks, there you have it. Now you know exactly what the Pattaya Beach Dawn Freak Show is all about so if you ever get a chance to visit the place perhaps you can even join the show if you're still up partying at sunrise there. LOL

Enjoy!

Sun Sea and Sand - Jomtien Beach -Thailand

by Derek Miller

For the ultimate beach vacation there is no better location than that of "Jomtien Beach" in Thailand Which is just a two hours ride in a taxi from Bangkok Airport. The Jomtien Beach is located about two kilometers from its busy counterpart resort of South Pattaya. Jomtien beach and the area along its beach road have now become more and more popular for swimming, water sports and activities because it has a long straight coastline and they're being less boats anchored in its waters. There are very many good quality hotels, bungalows and guesthouses. A wide range of small and large condominiums is also available for short or long term rental and many good restaurants serving a wide variety of fresh seafood with a full range of Thai cuisine and International dishes. Many tourists come to this area to just enjoy the scenery and the beach. Chairs are available to sit with a table to have food and drink served directly to you as you soak up the sun or simply lay back and listen to the waters lapping on the sand. Go swimming or enjoy water sports such as wind surfing, ride a water scooter, parasail or take a speed boat ride, even water skiing is possible. The Jomtien Beach has good quality white sand and a very long coastline to enjoy. The beach is much more peaceful here than its counterpart of Pattaya further up the coast. The beaches are always kept in a pristine condition by the many vendors who are there to look after all your needs. Along the early part of the straight beach road you will find many souvenir shops, international restaurants, food stalls. But at the far end of the beach road there are very good seafood restaurants and it is where you can find yourself at times the only person soaking up the sun. You can also swim late into the night along a large part of the beach as the sands are floodlit which makes for a very safe environment to swim after the sun has gone down. May be you only want to simply find a quiet bar for any drink of your choosing. Many are available and the prices have to be seen to be believed. Jomtien beach simply has it all without having to travel long distances. But if you fancy a more adventurous evening and want to enjoy a full range of nightlife activities Pattaya is just a few minutes down the coast. Transportation around the Pattaya and Jomtien area is simple. The open pick up cars (Baht buses as they are locally called) are running all the time. Just hail one down and climb aboard. Jomtien is one place in the world where a good quality beach vacation is simplicity itself. How do I know these things - I live there.

Planning A Party In Pattaya?

by Lawrence Westfall
Many folks go to Pattaya, Thailand and celebrate some occasion while they are there. Whether it be an anniversary, birthday, divorce, or nothing in particular, there are plenty of party venues to schedule your special event.
I have been going to Thailand for over 30 years, have made numerous friends there - both Thai and Expat and highly recommend the following venues:

1. The FLB bar - owned by Martin and managed by Ricky down on Walking Street past the big tree - this is a very friendly hostess bar that will cater to your every whim. For about 12,000 Baht, about 300 dollars, you will have the time of your life. Excellent food from the Sportsman bar, great, live entertainment from the Ugly Brothers band and some of the friendliest ladies in Pattaya. Martin also runs an excellent forum at pattayatalk.com.

2. Cherry Bar - on Soi 8 and owned by a very friendly Brit - Adam. Adam has devoted his life to making this bar successful on a street lined wall-to-wall with similar bars. He does an excellent job of promoting his quaint little bar and bends over backwards to make you feel at home. And, you don't even have to be a Brit to have a great time here.

3. Lennies Bar - on Soi Diamond between Walking Street and 2nd Road - Paul, the manager, will ease all of your worries and make you feel at home as soon as you walk in the door. As Eric Clapton said, this place will "ease you worried mind". Parties can be arranged easily - just see Paul.

4. Tequila Queen #2 - just off of Walking Street and partially owned by Bob of Bob's BBQ - small, air-conditioned go-go bar that guarantees great food and a super time. It may be small, but the fun will be huge.

5. Secrets Bar - Last but not least by any means. Ben used to be the manager at FLB but has moved onward and upwards and has set up his own bar, restaurant and hotel - the Secrets Hotel and Bar. On Soi 14 - just off of Walking Street Ben will ensure that you will have a super time. Ben is the host with the most and I have known him for over 7 years - he will take care of all your needs. Ben also runs a great forum at pattayasecrets.com. The restaurant at Secrets - food you would not believe, caters parties here.

So, if you are heading out to Pattaya, plan a party. It can be for any occasion or just for the heck of it.

Hotels In Pattaya, Thailand

by Lawrence Westfall

You have decided to visit Asia for your next vacation and have decided to go to Pattaya, Thailand. Your flight is booked but you are still looking for a hotel. But, how do you decide which hotel to stay at?
Your decision should be based on what you plan to do while you are Pattaya. Will you be spending most of your time sightseeing, shopping or enjoying the nightlife? Most likely you will be enjoying the nightlife and will want to be located in the heart of it.

There are three main areas in Pattaya - North, South, and Central and all three have their plusses and minuses. Getting a hotel in any of the three will boil down to a personal preference.

North Pattaya is in the Soi 2 area or even a little further North called Naklua. Most of the tourists here are from Europe and the nightlife is adequate but not spectacular. I rarely go to the Naklua area but I do enjoy the Soi 2 nightlife area.

South Pattaya is very good and includes the area around the infamous Walking Street. There are many hotels available from Soi 13 to Walking Street and also along the side streets between 2nd Road and Walking Street. Many are small pubs with a handful of rooms above the bar.

To me, Central Pattaya is where to stay. The location is perfect as I can walk or catch a baht bus to anywhere in a matter of minutes. Beach Road, 2nd Road or even down to Soi Buakhao are perfect locations as long as the hotel is between Central Road and Soi 13.

Most of the hotels in Pattaya are in the 2 - 4 star range with the occasional 5 star (Marriott) but a 2 - 4 star in Pattaya is definitely a cut above similar hotels in the states. I prefer the smaller, pub places that have a handful of rooms upstairs. Most are owned by a couple and really do their best to make your stay a great one.

Do your research, and look for a discount Pattaya hotel, and enjoy your stay in the Land of Smiles. It won't be hard to find your Asian hotel in Pattaya at all.

Bangkok Or Pattaya - Decisions, Decisions

by Lawrence Westfall

Bangkok or Pattaya - Decisions, Decisions
I visit a lot of Thailand Forums and very often a newbies will ask if he should go to Bangkok or Pattaya or both. He will also want to know how long he should stay at each place - if he goes to both.

As a season traveler to Thailand for over 30 years, I tend to be a bit cynical and advise most to just go straight to Pattaya. But, there are arguments to be made to stop by and visit Bangkok for a few days too.

I have toned down my advice a bit usually tell the newbie to visit Bangkok for 2 to 3 days at the beginning of his trip and then spend the rest of the 2 or 3 weeks in Pattaya. Everyone should see Bangkok at least once.

There is a lot to see in Bangkok if you can ever get to where you want to go. Traffic is usually moving along at a snail's pace and the meter in the taxi keeps ticking away. Walking around is hot and the streets are lined with vendors that block the sidewalk and will try any tactic to get you to stop and buy something from their stall. And, if you are walking around at night, you will have to watch out for the lady-boys and the muggers (as you would in almost any large city).

Once you suffer taxis and heat, there are numerous clubs, bars, and restaurants that would rival the best anywhere in the world. With prices being extremely low (despite the strengthening of the Baht), you can have a great night out on the town for a minimal amount of money.

Throw in inexpensive hotels, excellent shopping, and the friendliest people in the world, and you will have an experience unlike any you have ever had. Then, on your second visit to Thailand, you can just go straight to Pattaya.

Day Trip To Koh Larn

by Lawrence Westfall

Was talking to a girl in a bar and the conversation came around to what other places in Thailand had I visited other than Pattaya. I rattled off a short list - Bangkok, Phitsanulok, Nakhon Si Thammaratt, Phuket, Koh Samui, Had Yai, Korat, and a few others. She asked me if I had ever been to Koh Larn. I told her "No" and she told me she had never been either.
Well that did it. I immediately invited her to go the next day. She was beside herself and, at first, did not believe me. I promised her that I was telling her the truth. She came home with me and spent the night and the next morning we grabbed some breakfast and booked our day trip.

We only had to wait about 15 minutes and were escorted to a meeting place near Beach Road. It was within walking distance and we were there in about as long as it takes to smoke a cigarette. A few more folks joined us and about 10 minutes later, we were heading for the beach to meet our boat.

We were taken down to the water and a long boat was waiting for us. It was very narrow - just enough room to sit 2 across. There were about 15 of us in the boat and it could have held twice as many.

We chugged out to a square pier about 15 minutes from shore. This was the para-sailing station was. I wanted no part of this and neither did the young lady with me. We just sat and watched the others on their 30-second trip that cost about 10 dollars.

From there we embarked on a two-story boat. This one had a covered area and a place to sit topside along with some room in the back of the boat. About 30 of us were on this leg of the trip. The ship chugged along at a nice, slow pace and after about 45 minutes we were nearing Koh Larn.

Another small boat came out to meet us and this one had a covered, glass bottom. After we got closer to the island, we removed the wooden covers on the glass and made an attempt to see the coral bottom. But, the water was a bit murky and we could barely make out the bottom of the water. So, we headed for shore.

Since this little trip was impromptu, my girl didn't have any proper beach attire - so I got her a bathing suit, shower cap and a pair of flip-flops - all for about 10 dollars. We found a nice spot on the beach and picked out a couple of beach chairs (50 cents for the whole day's use) and staked out our turf. There were a few vendors but they didn't pester us much.

We were offered some of the paid activities - walking underwater, snorkeling, banana boat riding and a few others - not expensive - but really had nothing that I wanted other than to lounge on the beach. So, we just played in the water a bit and relaxed on the beach chairs for about an hour.

Then it was time for lunch. We were served soup, fried rice, fish and a few other Thai dishes and for some strange reason - french fries. The food was bland but edible. There was an Indian family in our group and they had a special meal because of their religion that looked a lot better than ours.

After lunch we walked around a bit, checked out the souvenir shops and went back to our beach chairs. Lounged a bit, played in the water and then it was time for a quick shower and back on the glass bottom boat for the return to Pattaya beach.

The glass bottom boat took us back out the bigger boat and we headed back to Pattaya. The girl I was with took out her cell phone and surprised me by dialing in some music on her FM radio. She had earphones and we each used one and listened to some soft rock while making our way back to the beach at Pattaya.

We slowly made our way back with a nice breeze and spectacular view. A few hundred yards from shore we were once again met by the long, skinny boat and made our way to shore.

All in all, a very pleasant day and the total cost for the two of us was 20 dollars. Amazing Thailand.

Pattaya travel guide - top 10 recommendations

by Andy Burrows

With its large expatriate community and diverse attractions, Pattaya has gained a reputation as one of Thailand's leading international communities. Its other reputation as Bangkok's playground and the capital of the sex industry, it attracts a very specific sort of tourist. No matter what your reasons for visiting, you'll find an exhausting list of attractions, theme parks and entertainment to keep you busy while you're here. In Pattaya gay travellers are also welcome and made to feel comfortable. Thailand is very tolerant of gay activities, Pattaya is no exception.
Million Years Stone Park and Pattaya Crocodile Farm The Million Years Stone Park and Crocodile Farm is a great place to take in some of the indigenous plant and animal life of Thailand. More than 1,000 crocodiles are kept and bred on the grounds and there are some elephants and rare albino bears. Elephant shows are held every day, as is the crocodile roundup. The grounds also have some beautiful landscaping, most outstanding of which is the bonsai garden. The park can be reached via a 15-minute drive from Pattaya city centre.

Ripley's Believe It or Not This one-of-a-kind museum is located on the third floor of the Royal Garden Plaza building in Pattaya. The facility contains over 300 unusual exhibits exploring the whole gamut of weird and unexplained phenomena. Some of the more popular attractions include the Infinity Maze, an immersive, walk-through sound and light show that tests the limits of perception; and the Haunted Adventure, a resurrection of an old real-life mystery set at the Grimsby and Streaper Casket Company and brought to life with live actors, special effects and animatronics. Despite its emphasis on the odd, Ripley's is Pattaya's most outstanding museum and a definite must-see.

Sriracha Tiger Zoo North of the city of Pattaya, the Sriracha Tiger Zoo can be found off Route 3241 via a 30-minute drive from the city centre. The subjects of this facility can be found in a variety of circumstances including in their natural surroundings as well as more interactive settings. Visitors will have the opportunity to bottle-feed young cubs as well as have their picture taken with them. The zoo is home to several other species including crocodiles, elephants and scorpions. Some of the more outlandish shows include elephants playing basketball and a woman wrestling a crocodile.

Mini Siam One of Pattaya's most well-known sites for tourists is Mini Siam, a 1:25 scale replication of some of Thailand's most popular sites from across the country. There are 80 buildings in the park representing periods throughout Thailand's history. Don Muang Airport is on-site, as is the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in Bangkok and the Temple of Phimai in Nakorn Ratchisima. The best time to visit is after dark, when the exhibits are illuminated and take on a new life.

Nong Nooch Tropical Garden Anyone who wishes to visit the Nong Nooch Tropical Garden can catch a shuttle bus that departs from in front of the Nipa Lodge Hotel in downtown Pattaya. This park covers more than 600 acres and hosts a broad spectrum of exhibits dedicated to Thai culture and history. The grounds include a cactus garden, an orchid nursery and a lake with canoes that can be hired. The arts and culture centre hosts daily exhibitions of Thai dance, Muay Thai (Thai boxing) and elephant shows. There's also a zoo on-site and accommodation for overnight stays. Wat Yansangwararam Pattaya is not as well known for its temples and ancient architecture as Bangkok or Chiang Mai. Even so, the Yansangwararam is a temple worth checking out while in the area. It's located a few miles south of Pattaya and was built in 1988 to commemorate the 42nd year of King Bhumibol's reign. On-site is a lake with Chinese pavilions and a building that houses several art exhibits and antiques of Chinese origin. The temple itself sits at the apex of a flight of 299 stairs hemmed in by snakes.

Pattaya Elephant Village Visitors who want to get an up close look at the iconic Thai elephant can do so at the Pattaya Elephant Village. These animals have served the country in a variety of roles over the centuries, spanning war times and more recently, teak harvesting. The elephants in the village are protected and perform daily educational and entertaining feats showcasing their forestry and football skills. Visitors can also ride the elephants into the forest and listen to English language explanations of this beast's history in Thailand.

Pattaya Beach While it may be saturated with visitors and a little polluted, Pattaya's beachfront property continues to be its greatest draw. Visitors come to enjoy the beach in any number of ways, whether it's a walk on the tree-lined promenade; a relaxed seafood dish eaten on an outdoor veranda or simply a laid-back afternoon spent on a deckchair. Charter boats head out to some of the nearby islands where further exploration and snorkelling is available. There's not too much actual swimming in the water, though it's bustling with jet-skis, banana boats and motor boats.

Amusement parks The constant flux of tourists through Pattaya has given way to a variety of amusement parks. Pattaya Water Park is a huge facility with water slides, Jacuzzis, whirlpools and a children's wading pool. Staggering towers at the Pattaya Park Resort and Amusement Park are capped by revolving restaurants with impressive views of the city and sea. The Funny Land Amusement Park has all sorts of carnival and theme-park style rides including a roller coaster and a pendulum Viking ship. Asia's largest aquarium is also located in Pattaya--Underwater World, with an impressive walking tunnel allowing visitors to walk in among the aquatic life.

Nightlife and gay activities Anyone visiting Pattaya will at some point be confronted with the city's notoriety as a part of the sex industry. While it's true that sex tourism is in full force in the go-go bars along Walking street, it's easy to find more family-oriented locations across town where you can get a bite to eat or relax in the evening. There are a couple of Irish pubs, an English pub and a blues bar where tourists can enjoy a relaxed evening without the risqué atmosphere. On the whole, the nightlife in Pattaya spans all interests and there's something for everyone to enjoy. Pattaya is also a popular gay destination. Gay Pattaya is centred on Boyztown and is very welcoming. Gay travellers feel very comfortable in Pattaya and have plenty of options for fun.

Pattaya Thailand

by Robert Rystrom

Pattaya is one of the largest cities for tourism that can be found in the country of Thailand. Physically, Pattaya is located in the Gulf of Thailand and is Southeast of the country's capital, Bangkok. With wonderful attractions offered, much of this city's economy consists of tourism. If you are interested in visiting Thailand, chances are that you may want to think about visiting the city of Pattaya. This city is known to have a lot to offer to its tourists, which is the reason that it has become such a popular tourist attraction recently. Here, we will take a much closer look at some of the main attractions that Pattaya has to offer to its tourists, in order to help you determine whether or not vacationing in this city may be a decision which you may want to make in the future.

Pattaya Beach is a favorite spot of many tourists, and it is also the most popular beach that Pattaya Thailand has to offer. Since it is located near shopping centers, bars, and hotels, it has become very popular among tourists. Unfortunately, it is often hard for many to get a spot on the sand, due to its popularity. Jomtien Beach is another one of the beaches which Pattaya Thailand has to offer. While it does offer some hotels and restaurants, Jomtien is mainly an area where people own summer homes. It is typically easier to find a spot on the sand at this beach than at Pattaya Beach. Jomtien Beach is especially loved by who enjoy taking part in water sports. It has a large entertainment center which offers water park attractions, a roller coaster, a monorail and fun attractions for children - which has helped with it become a popular area for people who are vacationing as families to want to visit. Of course, the beautiful beaches that Pattaya Thailand has to offer is not the only thing that this city has going for it.

There are many other attractions which Pattaya has to offer that tourists all find to be quite appealing. Some of these attractions include golf courses, places for go-cart racing, the Sri Racha Tiger Zoo, Pattaya Beach Resort Water Park and Funny Land Amusement Park, a submarine, a crocodile farm, and various museums. There are also various shopping centers and stores which anyone may be interested in visiting while they are in Pattaya. Go go bars and strip clubs occupy the time of many tourists.

As you can see, there are so many different tourist attractions that Pattaya Thailand has to offer. Thailand Vacation Series - Pattaya Attractions

Chon Buri The Nearest Seaside Retreat
Chonburi, Bangkok's nearest seaside town, is located on the eastern coast of the Gulf of Thailand, only 80 kilometers from Bangkok. The area boasts abundant natural resources, which are highlighted by delightful beaches, local colors, traditions, delicacies and fresh seafood. This is a popular resort among Bangkokians who seek the nearest escape from hectic weekly schedules as Chon Buri has something for everyone. In addition, Chon Buri is the center of the Eastern Seaboard Development Project, with its industrial parks and fishing villages.

Pattaya - A Travelers Paradise

Pattaya is nestled along a picturesque bay on the East Coast of the Gulf of Thailand, roughly 170 kilometers southeast of Bangkok. From a fishing village in the 1960's, Pattaya has emerged as the favorite Southeast Asian vacation center. A fascinating escape where tourists, holiday makers and vacationers from around the world unfold an incomparable array of possibilities to unwind during an exotic holiday beach vacation.

Unlike other beach resorts, where natural surroundings are used as magnets to attract tourists, Pattaya makes an all-out attempt to provide the best of everything. Here, everything means everything a tourist can imagine while on holiday: recreation, entertainment, sports, sightseeing and fun. To put it simply, Pattaya is a paradise for everyone, as it has a variety of attractions suitable for all types of visitors. This is the place where you can fill your day, from dusk to dawn, with endless activities, or you may choose to do nothing at all and relax.

You can check all accommodations including prices, transportation, activities, etc. here, Pattaya Hotels.

The Past

Pattaya's name was originated from the march of Phraya Tak (later known as King Taksin the Great) and his followers from Ayutthaya to Chanthaburi just before the fall of the Ayutthaya Kingdom to the Burmese invaders in 1767.

When Phraya Tak's army arrived in the vicinity of what is Pattaya today, he encountered the troops of Nai Klom who tried to intercept him. When the two leaders met face to face, Nai Klom was awed by Phraya Tak's dignified manner and his army's strict discipline, thereby surrendering without a fight. The place where the two armies confronted each other was later called Thap Phraya, which means the Army of the Phraya. This was later changed to Phatthaya, which happens to mean the wind blowing from the southwest to the northeast at the beginning of the rainy season. Today the spelling of the name has been simplified to Pattaya.

For centuries, Pattaya was a small fishing village almost cut off from the outside world. But a big change occurred on 29 April 1961 when the first group of about 100 American servicemen who would join the Vietnam War arrived in Pattaya for relaxation. Soon, sleepy Pattaya became Thailand's premier and most successful beach resort, which annually attracts hundreds of thousands of pleasure-seeking visitors. A full range of accommodations from super deluxe hotels to bungalows and mini-pocket guesthouses replaced fishermens huts along the beach. Fishing vessels were adapted to become tourist boats and swimmers and sunbathers from various parts of the world frequented the quiet powdery golden beaches. Places of nighttime entertainment have also sprung up and are popular among international tourists.

The Present

Pattaya currently integrates the delights of a 1st class beach resort, city-like dining, shopping and night entertainment facilities with more than 300 assorted hotels, thousands of shops, restaurants and bars. In addition, there are an array of sports and recreational activities including beaches, golf courses, tennis courts, go-kart, gyms for working out, weight lifting and Thai-boxing gear. Pattaya offers a broad range of things to do. During the day, one may enjoy riding elephants or driving humble automatic mini-bikes, monstrous motorcycles, or even monster multicolored convertible Jeeps. Others go for shooting firearms, scuba diving and surfing, deep-sea fishing, speed boats, scooters, water-skiing, parasailing, or aerial sports such as gliding ultra-lights and flying motor-propelled gliders. On the other hand, at night, there are restaurants, bars, theaters, cabaret shows, night clubs, bowling halls, billiard & snooker clubs, discos, sauna & massage parlors, not to cite its absolutely incredible shopping which is available non-stop both day-and-night.

What is considered good manners in one culture may be considered rude in another. For example, in English speaking Western countries it is usually considered good manner to bring a bottle of wine when coming to someone's house for dinner. In France, however this is considered insulting as it suggests the hosts are unable to provide their own good wine.
In Arab countries it's rude to display the soles of your feet or touching somebody with your shoes, Also eating with left hand is extremely offensive; for the left hand is reserved for bodily hygiene.

In the United States, it is rude not leaving a proper tip for a server at a restaurant. While in other countries some establishment may add a gratuity to the bill, in the United States this is not usually done and is up to the patron to leave an adequate tip, usually 15 percent.

Here are a few points that you should observe while staying in Pattaya, Thailand.

1. Always take your shoes off when you enter somebody's home, unless the owner insists you not to take it.

2. Always take your shoes off when you enter a temple hall.

3. No tank-tops, shorts, sleeveless-shirts, allowed in a temple ground and palace ground. Do not climb on stupas (chedis) and Buddha statues.

4. Doorway thresholds are considered a sanctuary for spirits, it's important not to step on a raised threshold, but rather to step over it. Keep this in mind especially when visiting temples.

5. Thais revere their King greatly, so treat portraits of the King and Queen with respect. Do not step over or standing in bills or coins (they all have the face of the king).

6. Do not point at something with your foot.

7. Do not touch somebody in the head (in Buddhism the head is the most pure region of the body).

8. Tipping is not necessary then eating at mom-and-pop food shops. For high-end restaurants and hotel restaurants, 10-15 percent gratuity is usually included in the bill.

9. Never passionately smooch and kiss in public.

10. Do not feel offended when someone asks you, "When do you want" they don't' mean to be rude , they just don't know it's a bad connotation.

11. Other than that, use your common sense. Do what the Romans do.

Where To Find Great Resort In Pattaya City

by [KengIsm]

Have you wonder what makes Pattaya city so popular among tourists. You might not have an idea if you never been there, but for some people who have visited this city for quite few times may be able to give very correct answer. What different between hotel and resort accommodation?
In fact in terms of the meaning and usage they are not much different, that is, they refers to the accommodation for tourist for travelers but resort may have additional characteristics of having beautiful garden or open-air public are available for guests to be able to enjoy with natural environment.

But for normal hotel accommodation, this could means the building of the hotel in the city area were has no garden or green space available for its guest or provide just a little one. Also resort accommodation could refers to the accommodation that located in mountain or woods where tourists or travelers can fully enjoy the environment. According to this reason travelers tend to prefer to look for resort accommodation rather than building hotel. If they are not required to join business trip and have to stay in city central area.

Pattaya is the small lovely city on eastern region of Thailand. It is the small city that well known for tourists of its beautiful beaches and nightlife. There are also hotels and resort accommodations available in this city. However, according the most area of the city is urban area, so it is quite rare to see large resort accommodation available for tourists. However, if you are planning to visit this city, there are some beautiful resorts available for you but you may have to be hurry because they normally have full booking in high season.

Even though it si quite hard for you to find large resort accommodation in Pattaya, but there are some other hotels that have improve its environment to be a resort. One of the good examples is the hotel called Cabbages and Condoms Resort which I have visited last year.

I book this hotel through hotel booking website in very in quite cheap price and the hotel's service is really impressive. For some of you who nay want to stay in city central area but would love to relax on private beach. There are some resort provides this for external guest too.

Booking for hotel in this city is also very easy. It is quite surprised that I can see many of travel agents in my country offering hotel booking service for this city. Even though it is just a small city in small country but the tourism market is very competitive. Therefore, many of hotel booking websites owners try to make a deal with local agents or directly to hotels or resorts to offer competitive prices available to customers.

In summary, it is quite necessary for you, if you are planning to visit Thailand and Pattaya you have to find out for information of hotel accommodation. If you are planning for business trip, so it might not be complicated because there are a lot of hotel in the city.

Endless Happiness At Beach Hotel Pattaya

by [KengIsm]

Pattaya beach is really famous for tourists, not only for Thai travelers but also to people all over the world. Pattaya gain its reputation from the beauty of beaches as well as variety of beach activities. However, there are differences in terms of the style of travel of foreign traveler from different regions.
Firstly, we have to under stand the nature and characteristics of the travelers. As I am the person who is a tourist guide for almost 10 years and working in Pattaya and many part of the country. The difference of the tourist behaviour sometimes depends on the region that they come from. For example, travelers from USA and Europe are likely to prefer relaxing trip rather than sight seeing trip or joining many kind of activities. This is also depends on the climate of each region that they come from, for the one comes from the region that has long winter, they intend to relax with some countries in tropical zone like Indonesia (Bali), Thailand and so on. Mean while tourists from other country like Asia seem to enjoy activities rather lying on the beach and pleasure with sunbath.

The number of foreign tourists from western region who visited Pattaya city reaches million per year. According to this reason, many of hotels and resorts in Pattaya city have to provide excellent services to attract guest from this regions in order to survive in this very competitive market.

Beach hotel means the hotel that located close to the beach or have its own private beach to provide service to guests. It is the top priority for foreign travelers to look for hotel accommodation that has private beach for them to relax. Fortunately, there are quite number of luxurious five stars hotel in Pattaya which has private beach to ensure that guests are able to enjoy holiday.

However, in general, these hotels have online booking system of their own as well as having deals with travel agent or online hotel booking websites. However, for travelers who have to plan the trip in advance, they have to book for accommodation through local travel agent or make hotel reservation through websites. And the fact is that it is really important for them to make sure, if they want to book for hotel where they can relax on the private and cosy beach, they have to see the picture of the accommodation and the beach that the hotel has. This is because sometimes there is misunderstanding of the location and condition of the hotel.

As long as online booking system does not provide complete visual of the hotel, especially for the small hotel booking websites which usually provide basic pictures of accommodation and sometimes they are out of date. Therefore, you as a traveler may have to visit the hotel official websites to see the complete pictures of the hotel before you make decision to make a reservation. Also, if possible you may have to call the hotel to check the room availability especially if you plan to go during high season, which is about December to April.

Things to do in Pattaya, Thailand

by Antony Chapman

There is more to Pattaya than most people would think, the city being undeniably modern, with all the usual entertainment that you would expect from a bustling metropolis, as well as a few that you might not expect!
Visitors often think immediately of the beach (and well they should with so much going on there) or the nightlife (with its infamous reputation), but don't overlook the following:

Water Sports The number of water sports available in Pattaya is mind-boggling. Try your hand at sailing, wind-surfing, jet skiing, para-sailing, kayaking or banana-boating. Plus, if you feel like it, mix a boat ride to the outlying islands with some fishing or snorkeling.

Other Sports Pattaya has some gorgeous golf courses (no need to bring your own gear if you are struggling with luggage already), as well as a number of great go-karting courses. You can also try out paintball or laser tag.

Amusement parks In and around Pattaya, there are a couple of parks that should form part of any visit, especially for families with children. Underwater World boasts a fantastic aquarium with many activities for visitors. For something a little more adventurous, try Funnyland Amusement Park, with its carnival rides. Alternatively, Pattaya Water Park offers similar fun, of a watery kind.

Wildlife Parks If you are more interested in seeing some of Thailand's more exotic wildlife, there are a number of parks that offer a taste of nature. Sriracha Tiger Zoo offers a close (very close) look at these magnificent wild cats. The Million Years Stone Park and Pattaya Crocodile Farm mixes plant and animal life in its beautiful grounds. Alternatively, visit Nong Nooch Tropical Garden for a glimpse into Thailand's amazing flora. And of course no visit to Thailand is complete without experiencing the elephants who have their own Elephant Village in Pattaya.

Shopping Pattaya has a number of modern shopping centres, together with a number of factory outlet malls offering brand names at fantastic prices. Just make sure you have enough space in your suitcases. Remember too that tourists can claim back on the VAT.

Eating out All along both Jomtien and Pattaya beaches you will find some great restaurants offering a mixture of Thai and Western cuisine. Make sure you try the seafood and look for the restaurants that Thais are eating at, as they will be the ones with the freshest ingredients!

Museums with a twist Nearby, Mini Siam offers a glimpse into Thailand's past, with mini being the operative word, since everything this reconstruction boasts scaled down miniatures of historic buildings. Otherwise, check out Ripley's Believe It or Not for a museum visit with a difference.

With so much to do, you can easily fill a two week holiday - just remember to make some time for just relaxing!

Dining In Pattaya Thailand

by sas_upena1

In Pattaya you will be bombarded with smells and tastes from a wide variety of cuisines. Determining where you will dine for the day may be the biggest decision of the day.
I will list approximate prices in Thai Baht and the exchange rate as I write this is about 33 Baht to 1 US dollar.

Breakfast is cheap in Pattaya. You can get basic fare for about 50 to 80 baht which consists of bacon and eggs, toast, juice and coffee. A better deal is the hotel buffet. The Lek Hotel, Apex and Diana Inn on Second Road all have buffets for about 110 Baht. Lots of food but nothing really spectacular.

I prefer to have a big breakfast but one that also tastes good. My favorite is at the Sportsman on Soi 13. They have a full English breakfast for about 240 Baht. This is served on a platter and comes with bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, beans, bubble and squeak, and fried tomatoes. It is all you can do to finish it.

I usually don't eat lunch after having the big breakfast but for those who get hungry mid-day, there are many, many places to get something to eat. Everything from fast food to street vendor dishes are all over the city. You won't be able to walk ten feet without someone selling something to eat.

If I am hungry at lunchtime, I usually go to the Royal Garden Shopping Center upstairs to the food court. There you buy a card similar to a credit card and put however much Baht on it as you want. I usually add about 200 Baht and if I have money left over, I can get it refunded.

Then you just walk around to the many vendors and see what you like. Most of the food is Thai and there is everything from soup, to rice dishes to noodles. Beverages and dessert are also available. Most of the meals are in the 30 - 40 Baht range.

For dinner, I usually stop at a street vendor and get some meat and rice. There is a group of street vendors, or an outside food court on Soi Buakhao just north of Soi LK Metro. The northernmost vendor is my favorite. He has boiled chicken, fried pork, and cooked red pork. All dishes come with rice and cost 25-30 Baht. A bottle of water is an additional 10 Baht.

If you get hungry while out on the town in Pattaya, you will be able to get food no matter what time it is. Stationary street vendors and vendors with motorized stalls are everywhere serving soup, bar-b-que, and rice and noodle dishes. You can even get a sampling of Northern Thailand snacks - grasshoppers, silkworms, ants, and beetles.

Eating in Thailand is a way of life and you will find yourself eating 4 to 6 times per day. The meals are small in size and huge in taste. Some of the Thai dishes can be very spicy so be careful with the chili peppers.

And if you only eat pizza, burgers and fries, you can get those dishes all over the city too.

You can even find some of the best steaks and European cuisine in this former fishing village. Seafood is also abundant and you can get lobster or crabs for a small fraction of what you pay at home

I can guarantee that you will not go hungry when you are in Pattaya.
